Prestwatch is dead and (Bury)ied

I had to do it

For those of you who know me and follow me on social media, you know that I have created the Animals of Farthing Wood in my back garden since moving to Prestwich last year. When we first moved in I saw a couple of hedgehogs in the close and heard a couple of foxes and so I put some food and some cameras out and #Prestwatch began (get it? Spring watch/Prestwich)

Over the last year I have caught sight of two foxes regularly. I know there’s two as one has an obvious cataract and one doesn’t. The one that doesn’t is obviously bigger and so I think that’s the male.

Now the hedgehogs I got invested heavily in. They are endangered and there were definitely two in the area and eventually they were visiting nightly so I bought them a house to live/hibernate in and put a camera outside and saw that it was being used.

At one point I even ended up taking one to the vet because it looked unwell. It was thin and just not right. I was right and the vet treated it for fleas and mange and gave it back to me.

Anyway in the past few weeks I’ve noticed a baby hanging around. I’ve created life! Me! So now there’s three hedgehogs in the garden and there have been some adorable pics that I’ll share with you now. The don’t seem bothered by the foxes or the cats.

Tomorrow we are leaving this house and moving to Bury, hence the name of this post, and I’m never one to miss the opportunity for a play on words and I will miss the hogs so much. But most of all I think they will miss me. I’d love to take them with me but of course they are wildlife and you can’t do that. Let alone they are safe from cars here in the close and that the new house is paved.

However you better believe I will still have those cameras out to catch anything I can in that garden be it hog, fox, badger, bird or other and I will come up with a new catchy name for it but for now I’ll leave you with these beautiful moments as Prestwatch is dead and Buryied 😥
