I’m posting this in my cat groups, adrenal groups and on my blogs as my cats will be both the life and death of me!
Lily and Bobby went in for their post op checks today after their neutering. All was fine except Lily was as little open at the end but vet wasn’t too concerned. I got home and thought I’d give their litter tray a good clean before putting them back in their kitty prisons but all the bending and lifting on little food made me woozy and I knew I was going to faint any second. Having adrenal insufficiency means I can go pretty quickly and be out for a while until someone injects me with steroids and I was on my own in the house so I quickly put the litter tray back together, shoved the carriers into the room and unzipped them, closed the door behind me and lay on the bed so I could try to right my blood pressure.
Then I checked the cameras. Lily had gotten out of her cone! The little bugger. Well, I couldn’t leave her so I went in to grab her to put it back on, she bolted out of the door and into the spare bedroom under the bed where I can’t get to, I’m stumbling all over and all I can see is her licking the flipping wound!
I shut all the other doors and sat on the floor. Eventually I tricked her into coming out by pretending to be Bobby scratching at the door. She came to investigate and I grabbed her, threw her into the carrier and figured she must have chewed/clawed through the bandage holding it together as it was blood soaked.
Just as I was, pathetically, trying to get the elizabethan back on my phone rang in the hallway which was the solicitor I had been trying to get hold of all days regarding exchanging contracts on our new house and I’m holding this little scamp like ‘what do I do?’
Eventually I managed to squeeze her into Violets old surgery suit for the time being which is better than nothing. Bobby didn’t come out once the entire time and I must have used up my bodies cortisol reserves because I slept for 2 hours after!
Cats! It’s a good job she’s cute!
