To the lake, I did go

Another early start this morning for safari number two. It was a bit disappointing. We hardly saw anything. We did see a leopard but it was so far away that you could only really see it with binoculars or a super zoom lens.

The trackers had spied a family of leopards. A mum and two cubs apparently so they literally surrounded the area to try to spot them. I actually felt sorry for the leopards. I’m sure they just wanted some breakfast!

Did see an elephant in the lake eating the wet grass. That was cool.

And on the way back home, not even in the national park saw this scary guy.

Got back to the hotel and had a nap. Then I decided to go for a walk around the lake at the back of the hotel. It was a little further than I expected and it was more marsh land than lake. However, it has a very cool name….

I’m not sure how popular Star Wars was/is in Sri Lanka but I doubt they are related somehow.

Got followed by a young lad asking for money but then he lost his shoe in the mud and I lost him. Some hungry dogs came to say hello but I wasn’t happy. They have rabies here. I just kept calm and let them have a sniff.

Sat round the pond in the hotel for a bit trying to see a frog. I figured if I sat still long enough one would appear. I was correct. But he only popped his head out of the water and I wanted him to come completely out. I even tried playing him a mating call from YouTube (This is why people say I’m weird isn’t it?) He didn’t give two hoots.

Asked for a burger tonight. I hope it’s ok.
