Sighi-oohlala

Second one of the day today because yesterday’s was late. It won’t be an epic though because today has been more of a filler.

Adam went for a run this morning. When he got back he told me he had been through the forest and all he could think about was the woman from the bear sanctuary telling us there were 4000 wild bears in the country. I can imagine him running like he’s running from an actual bear with the inner monologue chanting 4000 bears, 4000 bears.

We drove from Braşov to Sighisoara which was a good two hours drive. Turns out like everything else, it’s all up a big hill and you have to park at the bottom. But my gosh it is beautiful. Shame I’ll not see the lower parts of it properly because now I’m up, I’m not going down until we are going back to the car!

We got to the hotel and it was locked up. Nobody anywhere. Looked through the window and nobody on reception. Great! After I just walked up a hill with a suitcase. I say I, I mean Adam. We tried to ring but no answer. Eventually a guy in the restaurant across the road rang and the reception guy came running down the road and let us in to our room on the top floor with no lift. Same as the last place. I swear this country is trying to make a Trunchbull out of me.

Had some lunch and went to this mad Dracula exhibition. The first bit was stories of people from Sighisoara. One being a guy who was really influential in rocket science and I was really impressed until I found out he was a Nazi supporter and help build something that killed loads of people. Git. The second part was all about Vlad the Impaler. It all started with him being a fighter trying to keep his lands from the Ottoman Empire but then somehow ended with him burning a banqueting hall full of homeless people. At the end it asked us if we thought he was a hero or a villain and I’m just not sure I can get on board with homeless genocide. When we went to leave the girl on the counter said she wasn’t quite sure why all the hype about him was there as he never really lived there, he was just born there. Great, you don’t even trust your own exhibition!

And finally on tonight’s menu was our pizza for dinner. Though if I share the menu with you you’ll see why I had a plain old margarita…

I have soooo many questions about this pizza. Milk? Plums? Cinnamon? Milk? Eggs? Milk? Surely nothing could be worse…

Large kitchen…… just what I always crave on my pizza. Mmmmm mmmmm
