Rainy runday

What does one do when the weather is crappy on run day? Skip it? Do it anyway? Do it on a treadmill?

Yesterday I chose the latter. I find my motivation wanes so much when the weather is dull so I don’t tend to run well. That being said I hate treadmills so I’m not sure what I was thinking. Oh yes, I do. I was thinking I could look at all the hot men in the gym. Oh wait, there weren’t any.

Why do I hate treadmills?

They are boring. You have nothing to look at whilst you’re running. It’s the same scenery. Yawn.

There is no wind. Well not the nice kind. You get some crappy air con if you’re lucky to get the treadmill that the aircon points at. I swear it wasn’t even on yesterday. I breathlessly asked the manager and he said it was but he did, thankfully, turn it down a touch.

The pace is the same. Unless you’re constantly fiddling with buttons the pace is constant. When running outside at least you can easily adjust your pace depending on what you can do at that moment. I find I naturally speed up when my body can.

So all in all treadmills are bad but I managed to do 5k whilst listening to a decent playlist. I have done it previously whilst watching films but I was in a music mood yesterday. I was then in a prime position, the gym, to do some weights after!

Sweaty Mess

🧳 UNPACKED

Rainy run day = treadmill. Hate treadmills (boring, no wind, constant pace, no hot men). But got 5k done with decent playlist. Better than skipping.

Why Treadmills Suck: Same scenery, crap aircon, can’t naturally adjust pace. Outside running > treadmill always.

Making Treadmills Bearable:

∙ 📦 Pack here: Wireless headphones for running

Worth Knowing: Still did it. Still hate it. Still better than nothing.
