When in Rome… ania

So today we spent exploring Bucharest. I decided to go part vampire bound with just a few accessories:

You might say I’m bat shit crazy.

Anyway, we basically walked around old town all day. Saw a couple of nice churches and buildings, walked along the river and then to the fountains which were quite nice.

The architecture is quite odd. There are loads of classical renaissance type building and then a 1970s flat building right next door. Also nothing is maintained very well. Here is a lovely old monastery. Then behind it is a horrible old block of flats.

I saw somewhere about a Russian church and wanted to visit that but trying to find it was very difficult. Even a police officer couldn’t tell us and it turned out we were right around the corner from it. When we did find it is was lovely but full of scaffolding. At least they are restoring something! I suppose I don’t need to see Moscow now.

The fountains were genuinely impressive and we had lots of fun taking silly pictures there. I think my favourite part was when the security man came over to tell us we weren’t allowed to sit on the side during this exact picture:

He just stared at us and we moved sheepishly.

Next onto the bar where I had three cocktails. The last time I drank alcohol was three months ago so I’m feeling a bit worse for wear writing this. It was a lovely bar though and I can imagine it gets very busy at night!

We headed on to an Italian for our evening meal and to soak up the alcohol which was lovely to sit outside at and watch it get dark. Early start tomorrow. Vampires ahead. So we probably won’t hit one of the several thousand strip joints. I did offer to Adam but he declined. Not sure if he thought I was serious. I guess we will never know….
