Day 27

Tsingy

Woke up at 5.30 and went for breakfast. It was quite nice this morning. Eggs and pastries.

Jonathan was late because he had been stuck in a queue at the park office getting the tickets for today’s activity.

We started with the big Tsingy circuit. I was given a harness. I had no idea what to expect. I assumed the harness was for a rope bridge I’d been told we had to cross. I was partially right. I did not think for a second I’d have to be rock climbing without safety equipment for the large majority of it. It was scary. My legs were shaking like a shitting dog. There were steep drops. One wrong foot and I was a goner. It would not pass health and safety regs in the UK in a million years.

I ought to say I had fun but I’m not sure I did. I’d say I wouldn’t do it again except I am doing this afternoon when we do the small Tsingy.

The small Tsingy was nowhere near as hard. The guide did it in his flip flops. I’d say that was a brave move. He obviously didn’t know much about the outside life. When we were sat waiting for the sunset I was showing him pictures of my trip and he asked if a lion was dangerous and would it eat a human. He then asked if an elephant was dangerous. I felt sorry for him not knowing things like that.

The sunset was nice but I couldn’t get a decent picture.

Back to Morondava tomorrow and on those ferries again!
