Getting lost is not fun
I woke up bright and early with a spring in my step for the first time in a few days. I stuck some music on and packed my laundry. I had my breakfast and set out for the centre of town.
It wasn’t long before I realised I had no idea where I was. I tried to use logic to walk until I reached water but that made no difference. I was lost. I also had the dreaded feeling that I’d left my passport in the pocket of my jacket that I had sent to be washed. Crap.
I just needed a taxi back to the hotel to check and then it could take me back to town. Simple. Except I could see no taxis. I rang the hotel but I was convinced he hadn’t got a clue what I’d said.
I found a man with a giant gun and figured he was either a maniac or could be trusted. I went with the latter. I asked him for directions and he said to get a taxi. Yes but where?! Just down the road apparently.
Luckily he was telling the truth and there was a taxi rank. A guy pulled up and took me back to the hotel, where my passport was in the safe. Although my headphones were in the pocket. He waited outside and took me back to the main part of town. I also organised for him to come to pick me up tomorrow.
I walked around the main town and felt quite uncomfortable. Everyone was looking at me either with lust or disgust. I couldn’t work out which. I finally found the sea front and sat in a cafe. Updated the blog.
Thought I’d go sit on the beach for a bit. Got pestered for boat rides. Bought a shawl. Went for a walk into the town to look for new trousers and I bumped into Mark. Apparently he had text me to say meet him round the corner from where I bumped into him at the same time but I had no wifi. Strange!
Went to the Emerson Spice Rooms for lunch. It was looking over the whole city.
We went for a walk and I found some pants. I tried them on with a woman holding a shawl around me. No changing rooms.
Went for a sit in the park and there was some kids having a 6th birthday party with party hats and a cake and everything. Very cute.
I wanted ice cream so we went to Serena Hotel which was very posh. Ended up staying there for the rest of the evening and watching the sunset.
